Carpet Protectants
Carpet Protectants Do They Work? YES! I used to be a non-believer myself until I entered the business and learned the benefits of protective sprays. Nearly all carpet manufactures apply protectants when manufacturing new carpet that is sold to you. The mills would not go through this expense uless there were significant benefits. In fact, some manufacturers warranties require proof of regular cleanings and the reapplication of protectants. Protective sprays or flourochemical topical treatments such as Scotchguard or Teflon have been used for years. These topical treatments provide some barrier of protection and help prevent stains from penetrating carpet fibers permanently A misconception from the average consumer is that carpet protectants will keep carpets from getting dirty. The truth of the matter is that nothing will keep your carpets from getting dirty. Carpet protectants do just what they say by protecting the fiber much like the non-stick coating on a cooking utensil changing the surface energy of the fiber and creating an environment where soil, oil and water slips off the fiber allowing tfuture cleanability. How Often Do I Reaapply? The ultimate answer is each and every cleaning (every 6 months). With wear from dirt and traffic, the carpet's protection wears away with time. The more traffic and/or dirt, the faster it wears. In addition, each time your carpet is cleaned with a deep extraction machine, the protection is diminished. We recommend cleanings twice a year with a deep extraction machine and reapplying Protectors regularly. Will It Change the look or feel of my Carpet? No. Using carpet protectors does not changes the look or feel of carpet. Occasionally, slight over-application of product or accelerated drying (with fans or heat) may cause treated articles to stiffen. Simply, vacuum the affected areas and the carpet will feel normal again Thank You, Raysco Inc Staff www.rayscoinc.com rayscoinc@earthlink.net 702.837.4914 |

Before After ![]() ![]() Causes of Increased Energy Cost Is your dirty HVAC system raising your energy bill? It might be and in this months "Did You Know" section addresses some possile problem areas with your system and what you should do to keep it running in peak performance. Some of the common problem areas include: Dirty ductwork, airhandlers or air filters, leaking ducts, and a dirty air conditioner. Ducts and air handlers: Clean Ducts/Air Handlers can improve performance with better airflow and improved air quality. Air Filters: Dirty air filters can be an area of energy loss . Dirty air filters can cause your system to run overtime. The dirt build up can reduce airflow and this reduction in airflow can cause the system to run longer than necessary. The longer the system runs the higher the increase in energy use. A filter replacement every month is a recommended to increase efficiency. Leaking Ductwork: Another area of energy loss is leaking ductwork. Leaking ductwork can account for as much as 25% of lost energy in a homes cooling system. If you think you have a leaking ductwork you need to contact a qualified HVAC professional to repair the leaking duct. Air Conditioner: The last area of energy loss is your central air conditioner unit. Your central air conditioner is located outside of the home where it is exposed to the elements. This exposure can cause dirt and debris to accumualt and eventually clog the coils. Once the coils have been clogged it makes the system work harder and reduces the efficiency of your system overall. The system should be professionally cleaned because no system can operate properly and economically without regular maintenance. Carpet Cleaning
Carpet Cleaning ![]() Why Clean. The biggest enemy of carpet is dirt. Soiled carpets wear out faster because foot traffic grinds dirt into fibers, causing them to fray. Then fibers unwind and mat together like dirty hair on a stray dog. The most effective defense against this kind of carpet wear is frequent cleaning. Carpets should be professionally cleaned at least once preferably, twice a year. Whats Happening. Soiling, accumulation of microscopic grit on the fibers combined with foot traffic scratches away your carpet's beauty. Like rubbing the fishing line with a piece of sandpaper, the surface no longer reflects light uniformly from the scratched fibers. This gives the carpet a dull and gray appearance. We can clean your carpet to remove the soils, but cannot restore the scratched fibers ![]() Clean Fiber (left) Soiled Fiber (middle) A Clean Fiber that has been scratched by soil (right) How to Maintain. Carpet cleanliness can affect indoor air quality. Indoor air quality, a growing government and customer concern, is forcing contract cleaners to focus on health as well as appearance. When properly maintained, carpet can improve indoor air quality, acting as a filter to hold soil, debris, and other contaminants, and preventing them from becoming airborne. routine carpet maintenance includes controlling the spread of dirt with entry mats, vacuuming with proper filtration and micro filter bags, and immediate spot removal. Did You Know? Filtration Soil What is it? Filtr ![]() Where do I find it? Filtration soil may appear around baseboards, under doors, along the edges of stairs and possibly away from walls where plywood subflooring materials have been joined. It may occur under the skirting of furniture. Generally, the concentrated air flow will be from an upper level of the home. What can I do about it? Preventing airflow through carpet and carpet edges by sealing cracks in the subfloor, a well as under baseboards and edges of stairs, may reduce filtrations. Another way to prevent filtration soiling is to keep the inside air as clean as possible, this can be done by reducing indoor pollutants and to make sure to regularly replace air filters. Recent innovations in soil and stain resistant treatments applied to carpet have reduced the effort previously needed to remove the filtration soil. That is why in order to achieve maximum results; a cleaning service professional should be consulted to remove the unwanted contaminants. Carpet cleaners will generally need to charge extra for the removal of filtration soils as it requires special cleaning solutions, extra time, and labor intensive services. A Nice Quote
Certainly it is true that the constant striving for something better- the price of progress - adds to the total of human happiness. It stimulates industry by creating new wants. It multiplies opportunities for the employment of brain and brawn. And it bridges the gaps between peaks of prosperity and helps take up the slack during times of reaction. - John N. Willys
